Core Applications

Deoxidizer: During steelmaking, residual oxygen in molten steel reduces mechanical properties such as strength and toughness. The silicon in high purity ferro silicon ingots exhibits strong affinity for oxygen. When added to molten steel, it reacts preferentially with oxygen to form SiO₂, thereby removing oxygen and enhancing steel quality.
Alloying Element: Adding ferro silicon to steel improves corrosion resistance, magnetic permeability, and strength. For example, during silicon steel production, precise ferro silicon addition adjusts silicon content to ensure optimal electromagnetic properties. In stainless steel and high-strength structural steel smelting, ferro silicon also serves as an alloying supplement.
Nodularizing Agent: Adding a small amount of ferro silicon before pouring gray cast iron or ductile iron refines the cast iron grain structure and reduces white cast iron. This effectively enhances the strength, wear resistance, and machinability of castings while preventing defects like cracks and shrinkage cavities.
Spheroidalizing Agent Auxiliary: In ductile iron production, ferro silicon serves as the base material for spheroidizing agents. It synergistically improves graphite morphology, promoting spherical graphite distribution and significantly enhancing the cast iron's toughness.
