How to Choose the Right Ferro Silicon Grade
Grade Selection Guide
For Electrical & Automotive Steels: Choose Low-Al Ferro Silicon (Al ≤ 0.1–0.5%). High aluminum levels cause alumina inclusions and nozzle clogging during continuous casting.
For Standard Carbon & Stainless Steelmaking: Choose Standard FeSi 75%. It delivers high silicon recovery rates and predictable deoxidation thermodynamics.
For Iron Foundries (Ladle Addition): Choose FeSi 72% or Sized FeSi Granules (1–3mm) for uniform dissolution and optimal graphite nucleation without excessive slag generation.
Sizing Distribution & Melting Efficiency
10–50 mm / 10–100 mm: Recommended for EAF/BOF steelmaking furnace charges to ensure proper penetration into liquid metal and avoid oxidation in the slag layer.
1–3 mm / 3–8 mm: Recommended for foundry ladle additions to achieve rapid dissolution and minimal temperature drop.
Manufacturing Process
Raw Material Sourcing & Preparation
High-purity silica quartz (SiO₂ > 99.0%), low-ash metallurgical coke, clean steel scrap, and charcoal are strictly inspected and proportioned.
Submerged Arc Furnace (SAF) Smelting
Materials are smelted at temperatures exceeding 2000°C in electric submerged arc furnaces, reducing silicon dioxide into metallic silicon dissolved in molten iron.
Refining & Slag Removal
Molten FeSi is tapped into ladles where argon stirring and refining agents are applied to remove unwanted slag inclusions, aluminum, and trace impurities.
Controlled Casting & Cooling
Molten metal is cast into shallow ingot molds to achieve rapid, uniform solidifying, preventing micro-segregation of chemical elements.
Crushing & Precision Screening
Cooled ingots are processed through jaw crushers and vibratory screeners to achieve precise particle size distribution (e.g., 10-50mm).
Sampling & Final Packaging
Every batch is sampled according to ISO 3713 standards, verified by XRF/Chemical testing, and sealed in weatherproof jumbo bags.
Quality Control & Testing
Laboratory Capabilities
Our in-house ISO/IEC 17025 compliant laboratory is equipped with X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) Spectrometers, Carbon-Sulfur Analyzers, and Automated Sieve Shakers.
Heat-Wise Traceability
Every jumbo bag is labeled with a unique heat batch number. Customers can trace chemical composition, furnace logs, and inspection dates for every shipment.
Sampling Protocols
Sampling is performed in strict compliance with ISO 3713 (Ferroalloys — Sampling and sample preparation).
Independent Third-Party Inspection
We welcome and facilitate pre-shipment inspections (PSI) at loading ports by recognized independent surveyors including SGS, AHK, Bureau Veritas (BV), or CCIC. Certificate of Analysis (COA) is provided with every bill of lading.
