How to Choose the Right Carbon Raiser

Match Your Furnace & Addition Point
Medium-Frequency Induction Furnaces: Add carbon raiser early in the charge along with steel scrap. Use GPC (1–5 mm) to achieve an absorption rate above 90–95% with minimal slag generation.
Ladle / Tapping Addition: For carbon adjustment in the ladle, select smaller particle sizes (1–3 mm) to ensure fast dissolution in molten metal before temperature drops.

Evaluate Impurity Tolerances
Nitrogen Sensitive: High nitrogen causes nitrogen fissures and pinholes in thick-walled castings. Choose GPC (N ≤ 100–300 ppm).
Sulfur Sensitive: Excess sulfur degrades ductile iron nodularity and damages furnace linings. Choose GPC or Low-S CPC.
